Monday was Seagate Rotary’s monthly business meeting. It was noted that over 20 local companies and groups have already agreed to sponsor an Xmas tree at the Portal for the month of December. The trees will be decorated by the sponsors or their nominated school or youth organisation. The display will help to brighten up the town centre for the mid winter festival, and the funds raised will go to Irvine Cancer Care and Irvine Young Carers.
For the next two Saturdays Seagate will be coordinating the poppy collections at Tesco and Sainsbury’s. Socially, Seagate will be having an Xmas night at the Riverside Lodge on 17 December, in conjunction with Irvine Probus Club.
Finally, in the monthly charity raffle, the lucky winner of a bottle of fine malt whisky was Sandy Niven. The bottle was immediately appropriated as a donation to the raffle prizes for Irvine & Troon Cancer Care.
