Life in the UK

Weekly Press Report

There was a big turnout at Seagate Rotary on Monday when the speaker was Seagate member Pasan Gooneratne.

Pasan came to London 10 years ago, from Sri Lanka, on a scholarship to finish his Engineering degree at Middlesex University, working nights and weekends to help fund his course.

On graduation he worked in industry, and later founded his own company, one of five in the UK, developing software and equipment  for transport smartcard ticketing and GPS systems.  His company also programmes hotel, retail and Point of Sale systems.

A contract with Transport Scotland brought him to Irvine, and he now has offices in Irvine, London and Sri Lanka.  There were many questions and comments from the audience, and a Vote of Thanks was proposed by Alex McConnell.
