District 1230 conference 2018

Prestwick Rotary members at the District 1230 conference 2018 in Stirling

District 1230 Conference 2018

The District 1230 conference this year was held in Stirling with a theme 'Coping with Adversity'. A range of interesting speakers told us of their personal challenges coping with accidents or illness and the inspiration their personal setbacks had given them to work hard for others. For example, Olivia Giles spoke about her charity in Malawi and Zambia helping the mobility of people with lost limbs. Doug Scott, mountaineer, spoke about his climbing career and his charity Community Action Nepal building schools in remote areas.

The conference was very well organised and very enjoyable with an evening dinner dance, and lots of good banter and fellowship. Seven Rotarians attended from Prestwick including President Edith Sterrick. The District 1230 is an annual event and we look forward to the next meeting at The Royal Jubilee Hotel in November 2019.
