With the return to school in September, Chelwood Bridge Rotary Club has begun the presentation of Rotary Illustrated Dictionaries to children in local Primary Schools. The Dictionary4Life is produced by Usborne and contains over 10,000 entries and 1,000 illustrations. As well as the illustrated dictionary section, it has a user’s guide, a section on parts of speech and a section of hints and guidelines on writing in English. The dictionary is a result of the Rotary International’s priority to help improve standards of literacy throughout the world. The dictionary enables children to develop and widen their vocabulary in a lively and interesting way.
Dictionaries have already been presented to pupils in Cameley Primary, Chew Magna Primary, Pensford Primary and Chew Stoke Church School. More schools will have their presentations during Term 2. Last year Chelwood Rotary Club presented over 160 dictionaries to children in eight local schools.
