Prestwick Rotary Club supports Prestwick Prom.
For many years now The Rotary
Club of Prestwick has supported and attended The Prestwick Prom, with the
deliberate aim of providing fun activities on the day. Ideas have
included 'splat the rat', 'drown the clown', 'the shuffleboard', 'the
coconut shy', and 'guess Dracula's weight'. Some of these will be back this
year, with likely new additions. It is great to see adults and youngsters
enjoying the fun and games.
The photograph shows the 'shuffleboard' in action, a game of skill with a worthwhile prize for the highest score of the day.
In co-operation with Ayr Rotary Club we will display an Aquabox, which contains over 70 humanitarian items designed to support a family suffering from a natural or man-made disaster. Each box contains an Aquafilter as well as items such as shelter materials, tools and cooking utensils. The Aquafilter provides safe drinking water, so essential for survival. More than 110,000 Aquaboxes have been sent worldwide helping hundreds of thousands of people in times of crisis.
Information will be available on the benefits that Rotary membership can bring to an individual, such as the opportunities to make new friends, and support the local community. The Rotary Club of Prestwick is very keen to increase membership, with both men and women most welcome as new members. The club meets on Thursday evenings at the Parkstone Hotel in Prestwick, so why not check us out, with a visit for a meal with members at 18.30 hrs. If you require more information contact secretary Bill Leslie on 01292 470812, or treasurer Colin Duncan can be contacted on 01292 739170.back This Community Committee is responsible for all domestic projects that the club is involved in to improve the quality of life in the local community.
