Welcome to new Rotarian, Martin Palmer.
I am delighted that in the RAF’s Centenary Year and on my last night as Club President, I am able to welcome Martin Palmer, a former RAF Squadron Leader, Wing Commander, Group Captain and Air Commodore into the Family of International Rotary.
After his illustrious career in the RAF and the MOD, he joined a small Lichfield based company as Managing Director. The business quickly expanded under his leadership and, in 1998, he led a management buy-out. After continued rapid expansion he sold the business in 2001 to Devonport Dockyard where he became a Board Member until his retirement in 2008.
I have only briefly touched upon Martin’s achievements here because I do not want to steal his thunder when he gives a talk to the Club on his life and exploits in the RAF and in Devonport. (I am sure he told me that he is willing to do this!) I, for one, am very much looking forward to that.
Martin has already shown us that he intends to be an active and imaginative member of our Club and the International Committee.
It is my great privilege to welcome him as a member of Chelwood Bridge Rotary Club.
