Seagate’s speaker on Monday was Donna Fitzpatrick, Development Manager for the Fullarton Community Association. Donna entertained us with an engrossing talk on how the Fullarton Community Hub was started and highlighted the various activities on the go at the moment.
The main project just established is the “Community Garden” which will be available for every one of all ages. She explained that they had been working with the local Nursing Home to ensure that the “Dementia Friendly Initiative” part of the garden would be totally suitable. Sher also covered the Fishing Club that was established and the Hub were able to provide equipment and permits for both adults and children.
Donna also covered the support needed by the Hub to meet the various financial commitments like £1000 a month running costs for maintenance, heating, electricity etc. At present, the Hub has a footfall of 1200 – 1300 people a week and the work that has been done recently will ensure that they will be able to support the Fullarton community for the next 50 – 60- years.
Following a series of questions, a Vote of Thanks was proposed by Billy Dickson.
