The Rotary Club of St Andrews held a very successful Christmas Lunch in The Scores Hotel.
Fiona Barnard Smith, an Honorary Lay Chaplain at the University, had been asked to identify 20 International students who would like to be the guests of the Rotary at their lunch. The Rotarians were happy to welcome students from Brazil, China, France, Hungary, India, Iran, Korea, Nigeria, Palestine and Russia. They all enjoyed a traditional Christmas meal which was a new experience for many of them. Widows of past Rotarians were also invited to the lunch as were family of members.
After the lovely meal it was time for music and Rotarians Jill Craig on the clarinet and Ian Hamilton on the keyboard provided this. Everyone joined in community singing with many old favourites including Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas. The students all joined in lustily.
Fiona Barnard Smith gave the vote of thanks on behalf of all the guests who had enjoyed a very special time together.
A fun lunch with hats, balloons and singing of Christmas songs.
Students, Rotarians and friends all really enjoyed both food and festivities
