The speaker at Seagate Rotary on Monday was Caelan Muir, Deputy Head Boy at Irvine Royal Academy. Caelan talked about his experience at the school , and the mechanisms that are in place to support all pupils through their education.
He was very positive about the ethos of the school and the common purpose between staff and students that has seen significant and very apparent improvements in all aspects of school life and student achievement.
This extends beyond basic education into sports, out of school activities and facilitating and guiding work experience placements. After questions, a Vote of Thanks was proposed by David Cousar. Caelan was accompanied by Head Teacher Alison Crawford.
Under Club business, it was noted that there will be a charity race night at the end of April to raise funds for the Chernobyl Children’s Lifeline, and 6 schools have so far confirmed that they will be taking part in the Primary Schools’ Quiz on 23 March.
