YOUNG CHEF DISTRICT FINALS 2018
Two Kirkcudbright Academy pupils were succesful again in the Rotary Young Chef District Final held at the West Lothian College Livingston on Saturday 3rd February. Emma Craig was runner up which qualifies her for the Regional Final in Alnwick later next month. Maya Johnston achieved a credible 4th place. Contestants came from afar as Berwick, Edinburgh, Langholm and of course Kirkcudbright. The winner of Saturdays final was Courtney Bell sponsored by Duns Rotary Club. Thank you to all participants and Rotary Clubs who sponsor the pupils by paying for ingredients used in preparing their three course menus.
Thank you to Peter Croan and Andy Courtnadge for supplying photographs.
8 competitors from all over Scotland and the Borders took part in the event, ranging from 13 to 17 years of age. Unfortunately Kirkcudbright Academy's Emma Craig didn't finish in the top two, but gave a very impressive performance . The standard of food and presentation was top quality, a very closely fought competition.
The winner was 16 year old Laura Todd of Crieff High School sponsored by Crieff Rotary Club.
Runner up was Hannah Taylor of the Duchess's High School Alnwick sponsored by Alnwick Rotary Club.
Laura Todd will now go through to the National Final in Telford on the 28th April.
We all wish her the best of luck for the final.
