President Eric Greig welcomed members of Irvine Seagate Rotary to their first meeting of the New Year on Monday. In a brief business session it was noted that the club’s Burns Night will be on 12 February, and the biennial exchange with the Rotary Club of Orleans will see the French Rotarians in Scotland during the week of 4 to 8 June.
Speaker on Monday was Seagate member Fiona Lee, with a talk and photos of her recent visit to New Zealand. Having relatives there, Fiona was able to travel from the south of South Island to the west coast of North Island, taking in many areas not usually visited by tourists. Her photos showed spectacular scenery, and were accompanied by a lively commentary on the flora and fauna of the country.
