Our 20172018 Rotakids group at Chaddesley Corbett Primary school got up and running under the enthusiastic guidance of teacher, Lisa Flude during the Christmas Term. There are fourteen members who have already organised a cake sale raising £100 for Severn Area Rescue who came into school in September to explain about staying safe around water and detailing the lifesaving work SARA carries out.
Keith McMinn, the local Rotary representative for Shelterbox visited school and made a presentation to Key Stage 2 about the work of Shelterbox. The group are going to raise funds to purchase a Shelterbox by selling tickets to a box at a Worcester Warriors rugby match. The box belongs to A&H Construction who have generously donated it following a letter to their Managing Director from Rotakids President, Amelia McFarlane.
A talk to the school about Polio and Rotary’s involvement is being planned for next March to coincide with the crocus, planted by last year’s group, being in flower.
They are continuing last year’s project of collecting old spectacles for Vision Aid and have some new collection points arranged.
They plan to carry on with the project to record all the graves in St Cassian’s church next spring and summer terms.
With another two projects actively being sought it promises to be a very busy year for this very active and enthusiastic group.
