The Biggleswade Rotary Club hosted a presentation by David Moore who
spoke on the voluntary work he and others do in collecting "hand
tools" from everywhere. These are taken to the Tools for Self Reliance
Organisation which has a branch in Milton Keynes. From there they are sent to
the TFSR/local Authority workshops for renovation and restoration back to possibly
better than new. These tools are then sent to developing countries and given to
Trades people to develop small businesses/trades.
Brief description follows:-
Supporting Adults with special needs and Artisans in the developing world
We provide community and supported living for adults with a range of learning
abilities and disabilities. Here at Camphill Milton Keynes Communities we have
houses at our Willen and Pennyland sites but we also work with people who live
outside of our community
Workshops
At Camphill Milton Keynes Communities we run a varied program of workshops
designed to teach new skills and provide valuable work and life experiences all
in a fully supported environment.
