On 12 November the Rotary Club of Barton-le-Clay club held its annual, unique Gastro Quiz in Silsoe village hall. Unlike other quizzes this combines a series of spoken questions with two “taster” questions, one on food & the other on drink, in each round. This year the food taster questions varied from rice cakes, Dutch Gouda and Hungarian sausage, while the drink ones varied from Argentinian rose, Chilean merlot and South African shiraz.
It was another full house in the village hall and thanks to generous sponsorship from Barton Coop; David Swain; Orchard School; Route 66 barbers; Silsoe newsagents; Vangis Presentations & Village Homes Estate Agents the quiz raised a magnificent total of £1,130 charities. The three charities to benefit from proceeds were Primrose Unit at Bedford Hospital, SSAFA and Cancer Hair
