Rotary Foundation funding for multi-club projects

At Friday's (27th October 2017) Poundbury meeting three clubs received their Foundation grants that support projects in Nepal,

Many projects both world wide, and locally, are supported by the Rotary Foundation. The latter is Rotary's global charitable fund which is used to support and fund countless projects across the world. The amount of funding obviously depends on the specific project, but is also enhanced even more when clubs jointly undertake projects. Each of the clubs provides funding from their own charity account,  This particular finance is to fund projects in Nepal, which not only needs work to help isolated villages, but also with repairing damage caused by recent earthquakes.

The three clubs are Poundbury, Portland and Dorchester Casterbridge. The visit was opportune as two Rotarians from the clubs are about to head to Nepal to view work and progress, and are able to report back to the clubs.

The cheques were presented by Stan Jones (centre of the picture), chairman of the District Foundation team, and received by Les Fry (second right - President of Dorchester Casterbridge, Mark Townsend (left hand side - Portland) and Wendy Grassby (right hand side - Poundbury President). Travelling to Nepal is Richard Brind, a key mover in the project (second left)
