There was a full house at Seagate Rotary on Monday, with visitors from East Kilbride, Kilmarnock and Govan. The speakers, George Wills and Ray Porrelli, from East Kilbride, were there to promote the Rotary World Curling Championships which will be held in Hamilton next April.
Teams from the USA, Canada, England and Scotland will compete in this event which has been held annually since 1972. Teams hoping to represent Scotland will have to compete in district and national competitions to gain that honour. There were questions and talk on the strong ties between Scotland and North America, with regular fellowship sporting visits between the countries.
A Vote of Thanks was proposed by Andy Slater. Next week’s speaker will be on the charity the British Heart Foundation
