Billericay in Bloom 2017

We presented the prizes for the “Best Back Garden”, a Billericay in Bloom category which we have sponsored for many years.

Billericay in Bloom

July 21, at 7 pm and president Peter arrived at Canon Roche Hall to present the prizes for the “Best Back Garden”, a Billericay in Bloom category which we have sponsored for many years.

This competition has been run by the Town Council for the last 19 years, with categories specific to school children (this year’s two prizes were won by Buttsbury infants school and Sunneymede infants school), and for front and rear gardens, Hanging baskets and wildlife gardens amongst others.  It attracts enthusiastic entrants!

Our prizes were won by:

  • 1st. - John Dowsett
  • 2nd.- Patricia Evans
  • 3rd. - Lynn Townsend

The proceedings were skilfully compèred by Councillor Jim Devlin, aided by Town Clerk Deborah Tonkiss, and Councillors Jo Clark and Moira Moore.

Jim remarked that this was the largest number of attendees ever, as there was over 90 people there.

Unfortunately, none of our prize-winners came, although, two sent stand-ins!

It wasn’t a completely wasted journey, as it was great to see the enthusiasm of all the prize winners and the quality of the entries as shown in a continuously running slide-show of all the gardens.
