Rotary visits Gwydir Castle and Gardens

On Saturday 22nd July 2017 thirteen members and friends of Rotary Club of Llandudno visited the spectacular Gwydir Castle and Gardens, a mile from Llanrwst. Although most visitors were already aware of the heroic efforts of Peter Welford and Judy Corbett to restore one of Wales’ finest Tudor buildings, being personally guided around the castle and gardens by the owner and hearing the story first-hand from Judy herself was quite something else. To end the visit with a cream tea, served in the baronial hall, did add to the occasion as well!

Apart from some limited funding from CADW for specific restoration projects, the main thrust of the twenty three years (and ongoing) restoration has been painstaking and self-funded by the owners and we were assured that our visit was helping in its small way to help finance the never-ending restoration project. Individual visitors and organized groups are equally welcome. A good day out. Details are here. http://www.gwydircastle.co.uk/
