Rotary Bowls Evening – how green were we?

Every year the Rotary Club of Llandudno hosts a competition at Craig y Don Bowling Club as to which of the area’s Rotary Clubs will carry off the coveted Llandudno Bowls Challenge Shield. Sixteen Rotarians of varying degrees of expertise and accuracy tottered out/fought vigorously on Tuesday 25th July to defend the honor of their Club.  Sadly, Llandudno is consistent in the courtesy of letting an “”away” Club win every year. We have become so adept at this that we scarcely need to try!

Barbara Bolton and John Lewis, of Ruthin Rotary, eventually won through to snatch the trophy, which was presented to them at a fish-and-chips supper at the Queens Hotel later that evening. In the interests of Rotary solidarity, there was no mention at the presentation that it was the Ruthin Club that also defeated us earlier in the year in the Rotary District Quiz.
