2017 Convener Report

Summary of activities in current year.
We have once again sponsored two classes at the Fife Festival of Music earlier this year.

Similar to last year, 2016-17 has been an encouraging year for our Committee.

We have tried to maintain our recent excellent links with Woodmill High School and also made contact with Queen Anne High School, which currently had no contact with other local Rotary Clubs.

To this end, we are sending a candidate from Queen Anne, Shannon Burke, to the girls RYLA camp and a candidate from Woodmill,Derryn Brogan, to the boys RYLA camp, both in July, and each will come to give us a talk after attending their camps. We had an enjoyable talk from our RYLA candidate from last summer, Kimberly Salmond, from Inverkeithing High School, back in September.

We ran a successful heat of the Primary Schools Quiz, with Crossford Primary School again defending their title, emerging as the winner from the 7 participating schools.  I will attend the Zone final in Kirkcaldy on 26th April in support of Crossford, and hope they can repeat last years success in qualifying for the Area final in Aberdeen in June.

In a new venture for our club, we have obtained entrants from Carnock Primary School for the Young Photographer competition. The winning entries have been forwarded to the Area final and it proved to be a difficult task in selecting the winners  due to the quality of the entrants !

We have also once again sponsored two classes at the Fife Festival of Music earlier this year.

Finally, Alan Farquharson continues to represent our club in the Association of Fife Clubs in supporting Fife Young Carers.

Many thanks to all members who have assisted with our work this year, in particular Aileen, Grace, Helen, Ewan and Mark.
