Visit to the Rotary Club of Stoke on Trent

Llandudno Rotarians Steve Butler and Ashok Harshey, together with partners Gill and Sheila, visited the Rotary Club of Stoke on Trent on 26 June 2017. We were warmly welcomed to the speaker meeting by President Mike Herbert and members of the Rotary Club. Steve conveyed our President’s greetings and presented our Rotary Banner. The speaker, the ex Lord Mayor spoke about his experiences as a polio sufferer since his early childhood. It was a spell-binding talk.

Next morning we visited the new World of Wedgwood and undertook the factory tour, museum and enjoyed freshly made scones with clotted cream and Darjeeling tea.

The bonus was our visit to Trentham Gardens in the afternoon.  President Mike, who is personally involved in developing Trentham estate (comprising the beautiful garden, park, lake and shopping complex), took us around the estate.  He provided us with the background information - a fascinating history dating back to 1540.  It was the most wonderful experience for all of us.

We all had a great time.
