Kids Out 2017
A day out for kids from Kirkcaldy's DAS units
On Tuesday the 13th June the Rotary Club of Kirkcaldy held their ‘National Rotary Kids Day’ out at Cluny Activities. ‘Kids Out’ is an initiative that provides disadvantaged children and their carers the opportunity to spend a fun filled day out.Over 100 children attended from four schools, Rosslyn, Balwearie, Valley and St. Andrews. 12 pupils from the Interact Club of Kirkcaldy High School also attended as helpers. The Children had an action packed morning with opportunities to try shooting, archery, golf, and pedal carting. The adventure park was a highlight and the children thoroughly enjoyed all the activities ranging from giant inflatable trampolines to slides and swings. Before lunch there was a petting zoo opportunity for the children with a variety of animals, the duck being the most favoured and the rat keeping the adults at bay.
The carers mentioned how fantastic this opportunity is for the children with every child gaining something whether it be physical or sensory and how the social aspect of the day is so important to the children and really gives them a sense of community. The carers and teachers really enjoy the day as well as it is one of the few times they all get to meet each other during the year.
