Billericay School lands the top prizes

Three pupils from Billericay School, with their master Ian Coleman, were guests at lunch on June 26 - all prize-winners in the Rotary Young Photographer District Competition, 2017.  The three were Kieran Coyne, 18, District Senior Winner, who also went on to represent the District in the national competition; Thomas Mitchelmore, 15, placed second in the District and Daniel Olteanu, also 15, who was third in the District competition.

Each entrant presented a set of three photographs on a common theme - “Reflection”, in colour or black and white. 

Presenting the winning certificates and prizes, District Youth Chairman and National Young Photographer Organiser, Peter Dowse, congratulated them on their achievement and spelt out how high the standard was. “It gave the judges real food for thought.  Decision-making wasn’t easy.”

One judge was former club member James Ilesley, a professional photographer.  He also attended the lunch.

“What a lovely occasion it was”, said Ian Coleman. “The boys were buzzing about it on the way back to school.  Once again, thank you for your generosity and for being such brilliant hosts. It was a memorable lunch…..”Three other district winners, Junior, Intermediate, and highly commended were all from Dunmow, They will receive their prizes in Dunmow.
