On 20 June 2017 Rotarians were delighted to welcome back Brenda Fogg, from the “Hope Restored” charity that she founded.
Brenda makes no bones that some years ago she came to Llandudno homeless, with nothing except her children so she knows what it is like to be in need of help. This testing time strengthened Brenda’s resolve to help anyone down on their luck. From a humble start in 2010 of providing sandwiches to a small group, Hope Restored (website is hoperestored.co.uk) is now a fully registered charity with six volunteers operating out of church premises in Great Ormes Road, Llandudno providing hot meals, clothes, advice, comfort and companionship twice a week for between 20 to 30 people. Brenda is also on call 24/7 to help and support those in emergency situations. Since 2010 Brenda estimates they have helped 500 destitute people, probably saved at least three lives and – most importantly – offer hope to those who for whatever reason are in desperate need . Brenda is quick to thank everyone for their help – volunteers, the church, police, local authority, donors etc., and yet it is really all of us who need to thank Brenda, even if she is a bit too matter-of-fact to go along with that. As Brenda so succinctly says “With your continued support we will continue to provide this lifeline to whomever asks for it!”
Brenda has certainly stepped up to the plate - so must we!
