Rotarian Mike Dean spoke about tracing family trees

Who do you think you are?

Llandudno Rotarians were entertained on 4 April 2017 with a talk by Rotarian Mike Dean about tracing family trees.  Mike spoke about some of the research that is used, and how the advent of the internet has made it easier to search and track down family records and information.  In speaking about his own family research, Mike highlighted what he had discovered about different branches of his tree which had spread across the world, not leat one family member who had been transported to Australia, remarried and had a family the children in which were all called the same names as the children in the family he'd left behind in Sussex!  Other family members had been involced in a range of activities from coal mining and engineering to farming and brewing.  It was this last aspect which Mike emphasised was the real interest - discovering the lives and social history around family members.

The vote of thanks was given by Rotarian John New.
