On Friday 8 local schools took part in the Primary Schools Quiz, organised by Seagate Rotary and hosted by Glebe Primary School. Winners in a close contest were Annick, from Woodlands and St Marks.
On Monday evening, President Jim Anderson presented a cheque to Joyce Hodge of the Irvine Folk Club, as sponsorship for the Old Folks concert at Marymass.
During the day on Monday, a number of Rotarians took advantage of the start of summer to walk down the beach to Troon Harbour for lunch, and back, as a gentle start to the walking season. Further outings, some more and some less ambitious, will follow if the summer continues. Monday’s meeting was a rotary business night. Various fundraising and social events were proposed and discussed, and it was confirmed that application has been made for a charity bottle stall in the Bridgegate in May, to raise funds for the annual Christmas hampers.
In the monthly charity raffle, Andy Slater won a bottle of something he does not drink, which was fortunate as it was appropriated as the first donation for the bottle stall.
