Rotary - and Llandudno - mourns Bob Mills

Llandudno Rotary Club - and the town generally - has lost a popular figure.  Rotarian Robert S Mills ("Bob") died on 23 March 2017, his eightieth birthday, after a stroke from which he never gained consciousness.

He leaves behind his wife, Mona, and brother Roy.

Bob had been an active Rotarian since 1990, was President of the Club in 1996/97, and was the long standing Chair and leader of the Club's Foundation (Rotary's Charity) Committee. Bob's Rotarian role extended far beyond Llandudno.  He was known throughout North Wales and Merseyside for his many years of behind-the-scenes sterling work in making sure Rotary "happens".

A talented all-rounder in his youth, he loved Manchester City, Lancashire Cricket Club, the races and almost any sport.  I hope he would approve the light tone of this tribute to him (writes fellow Rotarian Chris Drew) when I repeat something I said to him many years ago - that he was probably the only man in the world who could play both a trombone and a clarinet, could speak Russian and Welsh, and could communicate on the racecourse in tic-tac.

A wonderful and talented friend has been taken from us.

RIP Bob!
