Members and guests celebrated the birthday of Robert Burns with traditional fayre at The Maids Head


This week's Wednesday meeting fell exactly on the birthday of the celebrated Scottish Bard, Robert Burns.

Members and guests met in The Maids Head in Wicken to enjoy tradional fayre on such an occassion. Cock-a-leekie soup, haggis neeps and tatties and cranichan - braw !!

Rotarian Iain addressed the haggis accompanied by the chef followed by the obligatory dram as a toast.

After the meal, readings were recited representing a selection of Burns works.

Greetings were recieved from St Ives Rotarian, Becky Roberts.

President Stuart in addition to his Selkirk grace gave a vote of thanks to all who had made the evening fun and enjoyable.

A special thanks go to the Maids Head staff and catering staff for delivering thier 1st Burns Night - well done !
