Jordan Koletic - 09/01/17

At Seagate Rotary’s first meeting of the new year, on Monday, it was confirmed that the recent donation of £500 to Mercy Ships had been doubled by government grant to £1000.  On Sunday the message ribbons from the Tree of Remembrance were blessed during a service at the Old Parish Church.  Funds raised from the tree will be going to McMillan Cancer Care.

The speaker on Monday was Jordan Koletic, from the USA, who is studying for a Masters in Human Rights and International Politics at Glasgow University on a Rotary sponsored scholarship.  Jordan talked with enthusiasm about her course, which is highly regarded internationally and has students from many different countries, and about her previous experience studying social conditions in Kenya and Tanzania.  She answered questions, and a Vote of Thanks was proposed by Andy Slater.
