SEPTEMBER 2016

President Dave's Diary

Due to trips, work and birthday parties, this months diary has been delegated to the Porthole editor, who will do a quick summary. September as been a very full month, we:

• Had social evenings on 3rd of September with Stan and Sarah Knight’s End Of Summer Buffet, raising money for Ann Marie and her mistletoe treatment, and bowling in Weymouth on the 13th Sep.

• Had our biannual trip to Vire, our twin Rotary Club in Normandy, France on the weekend of 16th-18th Sep. This was an action packed weekend as you can see from the photos and very enjoyable, with several of our members attending for the first time. Our thinking hats are on already for their visit to us next year!

• Had a very wet table top sale on Saturday 10th, which was also the day of the District Assembly, now in Glastonbury.

• Enjoyed a fantastic night out at the Weymouth Pavilion, watching the Pasadena Roof Orchestra, on 23rd Sep. We raised £335 on our raffle, with a donation from the profits still to be confirmed. Thank you Peter and Rosemary, and everyone who went, helped to organise,  donated raffle prizes and helped spread the word

• Inducted new member Liz Clarke on Tuesday 27th Sep, at our Guest Night, where we had a fascinating talk by David Carter from the Portland Museum on Dr Marie Stopes, her life, what lead her to Portland and her founding of the Portland Museum.
