incredible, beautiful model sailing ship HMAV Bounty built by John
It took nearly a year to construct, working almost every day.
The hull double planked then over 800 copper tiles were cut and fixed. The rigging an extraordinary achievement of detail

John has been constructing these beautiful model ships for several years.

He has built the Cutty Sark, The Victory, Darwin's The Beagle and many others.

The work involved is detailed and painstaking.

For example the hull is made in skeleton form, then like the real ship is planked with strips of wood only 4mm wide, each individually shaped. It is then covered with cross planking as it was in real life. Most of the hull is then tiled with approximately 800 copper plates, many of them individually trimmed and shaped.

As you can see from the slide show the detail is incredible from the detail on the decks to the rigging.

a wonderful job John! Amazing!
