The Club was very pleased recently to donate the sum of £2360, raised through a charity film night, to the international disaster relief charity ShelterBox.
ShelterBox began as a small-scale project by a Rotary Club in the south of England and has developed into a large independent charity providing shelter and basic survival equipment to communities around the world afflicted by natural or man-made disaasters.
Nicola Hinds, who received the donation on behalf of ShelterBox, spoke movingly of her own experiences in the field with the charity and of the lives she had seen rescued by the boxes which had been flown in incredibly quickly after disaster had hit.
Nicola had no doubt that the four boxes full of equipment which this donation would purchase would ensure the survival of four families somewhere in the world.
