Monday was Irvine Seagate Rotary’s official handover dinner, with Honorary Members and partners present. Entertainment was provided by members of the Irvine and Dreghorn Brass Band, and it was noted that this is the band’s 40th anniversary year.
To mark the event they are holding a concert in the Magnum Theatre on 6th August, featuring music specially commissioned for the evening. President Adam Moonie made a presentation to the band.
President Adam gave his valedictory address, noting that it had been a successful year, with over £7,000 raised for charitable and community causes, and with many social activities. Adam formally passed the chain of office to new President, John Brown.
Vice President will be Dan Moriarty, and Secretary and Treasurer Andy Slater and Billy Dickson continue in office.
Other committee chairs will be mentioned when they do something noteworthy. Next week’s meeting will take the form of a ‘nine and dine’ golf evening, with golfers and non golfers paired up for an informal competition starting at 6pm and followed by dinner at 7.30pm..
