Oswestry's Mark Fosbrook is an accomplished paralympic athlete who has overcome his disabilities to succeed at a variety of sports at a high level. Mark spoke meaningfully and movingly about how he had used sport as an unlikely way to succeed in life.
Members were impressed by Mark's achievements and determination and presented him with a cheque for £100 for his favoured charity SpecialEffect.
SpecialEffect are a unique UK charity that do whatever it takes to help everyone with disabilities to have a better quality of life. For some, this means access to fun and leisure activities like computer games. For others, it's giving them a voice at a time when they can't even speak.
A letter of thanks was received from Alison Hilborne, Supporter Care at SpecialEffect. It is reproduced below but please watch the videos she suggests as the merits of the work of the charity can be easily seen.
Dear Oswestry Rotarians
Thank you so much for your wonderful donation of £100 - following Mark Fosbrook’s recent talk - in support of our work at SpecialEffect; we are hugely grateful. If you have a moment, I have attached links to two very short videos, showing the difference your donation will be helping to make. Please feel free to share them around if you think anyone would like to see them.
