Monday was Irvine Seagate Rotary’s Annual General Meeting. President Adam Moonie summarised his year in office and the various committee conveners gave reports on their activities. The club has been very busy, with fundraising events ranging from the Sportsmen’s Dinner and Race Night to the Marymass stall and balloon race, and a clairvoyant night. Around £7,000 has been distributed in varying amounts to over a dozen local, national and international causes, and in addition the club has helped other organisations with their own fundraising.
Seagate also works with the local schools with Youthspeaks for the seniors and the Primary School Quiz. Socially the club has had a number of events including parties and a Burns Supper, hill walks and historic rambles around Glasgow hostelries and other ancient buildings. Membership has increased, and the club welcomes interest from anyone wanting to contribute to the community whilst enjoying relaxed and congenial company on a regular basis.
Seagate Rotary meets every Monday evening, and has a website at www.seagaterotary.org.uk.
