The Café Academy Team recently attended an Education Conference at Easterbrook Hall in Dumfries. They made a presentation about their pop-up café enterprise to over 100 delegates as well as working alongside the Head Chef to prepare and serve lunch.
Café Academy is designed to give pupils a real business context in which to develop the enterprise and citizenship skills set out by the Scottish Qualifications Authority. Pupils are involved in setting up and running a pop-up long with additional entrepreneurial activities such as the sourcing and sale of second-hand books, jewellery and vintage treasures. During the preparation and delivery of the project, pupils have the opportunity to evaluate themselves and their peers as they explore a range of skills. The pupils work as a team and support each other as well as having specific roles and responsibilities. The Team comprises:
