The Irvine Seagate Rotary Sportsmen’s Dinner on Friday evening was a big success, raising nearly £4,000 for the club’s charity account. The event, at Marress, was organised by Scott Gallacher and chaired by Alex McConnell. The main speakers Les Peters and Jim Leishman provided excellent entertainment for a capacity crowd, and thanks are due to all of those who supported the fundraising whether by attending or by donating prizes for the auction and raffle.
The Seagate Strollers were out again on Sunday. In perfect weather of sunshine and no wind, a small intrepid group walked over the hills and moors from Dalry to Fairlie, ignoring the wind turbines that now dominate the north flank of this ancient route. After a small refreshment in the Mudhook, they returned to Dalry by train.
Seagate’s next fundraising and social evening will be a Race Night at Bogside on 18 March. Tickets are available from club members.
