Burns Night 01/02/16
Weekly Press Report
Irvine Seagate Rotary had their Burns night on Monday, with an attendance of over 50 including partners and guests. As it was towards the end of the long Burns season, this was a light evening with high quality artistes and no speeches.
The haggis was piped in by Jim Butler, and addressed in exemplary fashion by Evan Rush. The multi talented Jim later recited Death and Dr Hornbook, with a preamble of explanation for those not familiar with the work.
Singers Alexandra Lynn and Antonia Farrell entertained with exquisite songs, both solo and in duet, and Debbie White pronounced on the Rights of Women. Presided over by Adam Moonie, and organised by Pam Lodge and David Cousar, the formal part of the evening was short enough to allow plenty of time for socialising and gossip.
A Vote of Thanks was proposed by Donald Menzies before the company, like Tam o Shanter, were dispersed by Henry, the gathering storm.
