There was a good turnout for Seagate Rotary’s first meeting of the new year on Monday. For light entertainment Andy Slater presented a quiz which was won with a score of 10 out of 30 by Ian Dickson. It was noted that this would not normally count as a pass mark, but this was no surprise as many of the questions were on minority interest subjects, such as Coronation Street and the X Factor, to which no-one knew the answers.
Donald Menzies reported on the club’s international golf tournament, in Ullapool on New Year’s Day, which was won by Franco Calistri after a battle with the elements as well as the golf course. Seagate’s programme for the next few months was discussed, including the Burns Night on 1 February, and fundraising events the Sportsmen’s Dinner on 26 February and a Race Night on 18 March. For further intellectual stimulation there will be a Glasgow historical walk, with refreshments, this Saturday.
