The
The "Not so Young Chefs"

Unfortunately the third "Not so Young Chef" - the one who received the highest points from the judges - was not avaiblable this evening to be included in the photograph, never mind Anne, you will have your revenge later.

Pictured above are Gordon Cowan and Maurice Halliday, two of the three Kirkcudbright Rotary Club chefs who were sucessful in winning the new ''Not-So-Young Chef'' competition which was held at Kirkcudbright Academy just before Christmas. The third Rotarian chef missing from the picture is Anne Halliday. The competitors were all required to prepare, cook and serve two two course meals on a suitably decorated table at a cost of less than £15, The three Rotarian chefs competed against three chefs, Anthony Tuffery, Rebecca Hickman and Kerri Carter, chosen from amongst the staff of Kirkcudbright Academy. The competition was judged by local chef Tom Kirkpatrick who commented on the extremely high standard of all the meals that were prepared. All competitiors received certificates and the three winners were all presented with medals. In the picture Gordon 'Ramsey' Cowan is seen holding the 'Big Spoon' trophy made especially for the event. It is intended that this now becomes an annual event.
