Young Chef 2015/16

YOUNG CHEF 2015/2016

The Wellingborough heat of this National Competition was held at Sir Christopher Hatton School on Thursday 17 December 2015.

There were 7 competitors who produced a wide range of 3 course meals for 2 people with the maximum allowed to be spent on ingredients set at £12.

The winner was 15 year old Matthew Baker who displayed a wide range of skills with the competition based not only on the taste of the dishes but also presentation, costing, planning,  neatness of working and hygiene to name a few.

Matthew's winning 3 courses were Mackerel Pate, Sea Bass, Panna Cotta,  but with a number of other ingredients and embellishments that created the "wow" factor.

Matthew will now compete in the District Final on Saturday 30 January 2016 in Huntingdon.

If Matthew is successful and progresses via a Regional Final to the National Final to be held in Leicester on Saturday 23 April 2016 he would have the opportunity to win the trip of a life time to the main sponsors Filippo Berio's Olive Groves' in Tuscany where he would experience real Italian cooking and also enjoy a days tuition at a Michelin starred Restaurant.
