Weekly Press Report
Seagate Rotary members had a busy day last Saturday, helping with the Dragon Boat racing, and inflating over 400 balloons for the balloon race. The technique of inflating and tying off the balloons defeated some of the older members, who had to defer to the dexterity of the young.
This Saturday Seagate will be selling Hot Dogs and Crepes from their stall in Kilwinning Road, opposite the Police Station. The older members will be well up to this task.
Monday’s meeting was busy, with a number of visitors from Kilmarnock to hear speaker Jimmy Johnston, District Rotary Foundation Convenor, talk about the funding of charitable projects and the grants and support available from Rotary headquarters to boost locally raised cash. This was quite a complex subject, but necessarily so as Rotary clubs have to be totally transparent in accounting for charitable donations. There were questions, and a Vote of Thanks was proposed by Sandy Niven.
