Seagate Rotary members got some fresh air and exercise on Monday evening , with a round of the Menzies Hotel 9 hole golf course before dinner. To make it inclusive experts and novices were teamed up. Those members who golf played to the greens, and the non-golfers did the putting. It was apparent that some allegedly golfing members could be categorised as playing at golf, as opposed to playing golf, and even the winning team had a score of over 40 on a par 27 course.
In the business meeting following the meal it was noted that there will be 13 teams in the Dragon Boat Racing in the harbour on Saturday, and for once the weather looks promising. Seagate will be helping with the Dragon Boats, and also running a balloon race. It was also noted that a significant milestone has been reached in Rotary’s 30 year Polio eradication campaign. In the past year there have been no reported cases of Polio in the whole of Africa. Only Pakistan and Afghanistan remain problem areas, and it is important to maintain the inoculation effort here to prevent the disease spreading back to other places where it has been eliminated.
