ShelterBox Links with Rotary

ShelterBox thanks Rotary for their continued support and help.

Thanks for the donations

We recorded earlier our response to the Nepalese disaster both in support of the fundraising event by our daughter Rotary Club Of Billericay Mayflower, but also in further donations to ShelterBox.

Rotary Club of Billericay received thanks for our donations in support of ShelterBox work in Nepal in a letter received this week.  Alison Wallace, CEO of ShelterBox, writes to Rotary Clubs to thank them for their efforts and the many years of collaboration with ShelterBox.

She writes about the catastrophic effect the earthquake had on communities there with whole twons obliterated and thousands left homeless and terrified.  As a result of responses by us and other like minded clubs, over 15,000 people across that country have been helped with ShelteBoxes and with the new ShelterTool Kits which contain tools to help rebuild their homes.

As she states, "Words can't convey the truly amazing difference your support is making".

Readers will be familiar with the contents of a ShelterBox, comprising tent, groundsheet, cooking stove and pots etc, but many victims of disasters have the energy to rebuild their homes, want to do so, but lack the tools to achieve this. ShelterBox has now introduced new Shelter Tool Kits to meet these needs.  Many areas in which ShelterBox works have long periods of heavy rain, high humidity and terrible heat.  Waterproof cover and shade are essential in allowing buildings to be rebuilt and reroofed and these new kits contains large waterproof sheeting, useful tools, rope and fxings.
