Hunterston Visit - 11/05/15

Weekly Press Report

A large group from Seagate Rotary had a visit to Hunterston on Monday evening, for a tour of the nuclear power station.

The power station is well geared up for visitors, with interactive displays and well informed guides to take groups round and explain the workings of the plant.  Hunterston provides a significant part of the country’s electricity base load supply and is expected to remain in commission until at least 2023.

Apart from the precision engineering and complexity of the site, particularly impressive were the levels of security and the safety culture pervading the whole area.

The visit took over two hours, and afterwards the group went to the Waterside in West Kilbride for a brief business meeting and a late dinner.
