Irvine Seagate Rotary held a very successful race night last Friday at Bogside, raising over 650 for the clubs charity funds.
Speakers at Seagate on Monday were Jennifer Stamp and Stephanie Frearson from the Ayrshire branch of SANDS, the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death charity. Ayrshire Sands is based in the Crosshouse Maternity Unit, and provides support, information and counselling to bereaved parents and families and affected health workers.
They liaise closely with the midwife service and also fund research. They have a telephone help line and a comprehensive website at www.ayrshiresands.co.uk. On 14 June they will be having their annual fund raising duck race at Eglinton Park, with over 1200 ducks and various stalls and entertainment. This was a talk that generated some serious questions, and a Vote of Thanks was proposed by Scott Gallacher.
