Royal Grammar School Rotary Interact Club

  The Club Membership has normally been around 15 boys from Years 12 and 14 from which are elected a President from Year 13 and a deputy from Year 12 to facilitate a smooth transition at the end of the summer term.  They also elect Secretary and Treasurer; this year the President has also allocated posts in Research, Logistics. Operations and Marketing to ensure all have a role to play.  The Club has attended an inaugural event annually hosted by RCPR at which the Interact President for that year, has introduced his Members and briefed on their plans during his tenure.  

Over the 4 years to date the Club has organised a sponsored run, entered a team in the Rotary Club of High Wycombe charity Dragon Boat Race (coming second).  They have raised money through ‘Mufti Days’ at school, running Cake Sales etc.  They have assisted the RCPR by providing manpower for our annual firework display event and have supported a number of local and overseas charities.  Most years the Club has obtained, packed and sent gift ShoeBoxes to Rumania.  They have bought a number of Shelter Boxes, 2 of which have just been deployed, made a significant financial donation to a local respite centre for seriously handicapped children and also the South Buckinghamshire Hospice close to the school and supported the towns homeless charity with gifts of food and toiletries. 

Here efforts are all the more impressive when one considers how busy the boys are in the 6th Form, how limited is the time available for meeting and how short each Interact year is, being significantly eaten into by holidays, mock and A level exams, and associated study leave etc.  The boys have made considerable use of social media web sites to ensure the smooth running of the organisation, and also the school web site to publicise their activities.

It is hoped the Club will continue to thrive and they are looking at including younger students from the school in the future to increase the profile of the organisation.
