Christmas street collection money, 2585.91, handed over to Magpas Fundraiser, Emma Sanders.

On the three Saturdays in December running up to Christmas and Christmas Eve the members of Soham Staploe Rotary Club carried out their usual street collection for MAGPAS Helemedix at three sites in Soham and two in

Fordham. Shoppers at Asda, the Co-op and Scampers in Soham together with the Co-op and Scotsdales in Fordham were given the opportunity to support the life-saving charity. The public responded magnificently and the amount that the club was able to hand over to the charity at their meeting at the Maid's Head on Wednesday was 2,585.91.

Emma Sanders, part of the MAGPAS Helemedix fundraising team, who accepted the cheque, told the members that with call-outs costing 600 a time and the collection could potentially save four lives. Emma explained that the team is called out when the emergency has been assessed as too much for a purely paramedic team and that the MAGPAS team carried equipment that could enable them to carry out open heart surgery at the roadside if necessary.
