The money raised at this year's Swimarathon is being presented to local charities, and the first of a number of presentations has now been made.
This was a cheque for £280.00 given to the 1st Brafield Brownies, at their weekly meeting in Denton Primary School. Rtn Paul Simpson (Hon Sec to Swimarathon Committee) is shown presenting the cheque to Sarah Stevens their Pack Leader (see right). 1st Brafield Brownies entered two teams in this years Swimarathon, They completed 69 & 72 lengths.
The team from the 31st Northampton Boys' Brigade completed a
total of 113 lengths, which is just under 2 miles during their swim.
The pictures (right & below) were taken at a recent meeting of the
Brigade in the Queensgrove Methodist Church where Martin Law receive a
cheque for £150 to go toward the purchase of much needed equiptment.
Rotarians John Roy and Stan Evans made the presentation.
The 2015 Swimarathon took place in
March, organized by the four Rotary Clubs in Northampton. The event was
held at the Chris Moody Sports Centre at Moulton College, and consisted
of teams of up to 6 swimmers, swimming in relay format for an hour. It
was not a race or a competition, but was a fun event and thoroughly
enjoyed by all those who participated. 11 teams took part and btewen
them completed a total of 955 lengths. On the day a total
in of nearly £4,000 was raised through sponsorship. After the event
each team was allowed to donate 50% of the money they raised in
sponsorship, to a worthy cause or charity.
Ist Scaldwell Guides had a team of 3 swimmers and completed a total of 68 lengths, raising £216.50 in sponsorship. 43rd Northampton Guides had a team of 6 swimmers
and completed a total of 107 lengths, raising £442.50 in sponsorship.

"Winking Prawns" was a team of 6 swimmers from Little Houghton Primary School which completed a total of 104 lengths, raising £210.00 in sponsorship. Pictured (left) are Carolyn Fairbrother (Headteacher), Grayce Harding and Kitty Knowles
