Feb 2015 Club Visit and meal - Swiss Laundry, Cambridge 6pm.

Mon, Feb 16th 2015 at 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

A Club Outing with a meal - open to guests and partners. Meet at promptly at 6pm for a visit followed by a local meal. Organiser/ Speaker Host - Colin B, Cashier - Colin E.

An unusual opprtunity to see the business end of a large commercial laundry in action.

Guy Turvill, manager and co-owner of this family business, provided our large group with a very interesting tour of his busy operation. It has a sister plant in Yramouth which is twice the size!  They deal with tons of washing every day, mainly from hotels, gyms and holiday parks. Interestingly they pull their water from the original bore hole that established the company over 100 years ago.  The clean and streamlined factory setting is full of massive washing, drying, ironing and folding machines. There is a domestic dry cleaning section too.  The logistics of tracking and quality control are quite amazing.  Guy shared our tasty meal at the Sorrento with us and continued to answer questions throughout.  A brilliant visit was had by all.

We met promptly at 6pm at the Swiss Laundry Shop - 149 Cherry Hinton Road, CB1 7BY (City end). After a tour of the working areas we had a fixed 2-course meal (with a veggie option) at the Sorrento Hotel across the road.
